Two daughters entrust the image of their family to a drawing; a father chooses to transform it into a gift for their mother. At the centre remain the gemstones of the engagement ring, witnesses of a promise made before the birth of that new family unit. Around them, the gold gathers in forms that are close yet distinct. The creation thus unites origin, growth and continuity, allowing every presence to find its place within the same gesture.
The family belongs to my archive of past creations and holds a design, gemstones and precise relationships, not a shape to be repeated. A new narrative project is redesigned around the people involved, the proportions of the hand, the available materials, the intended use and the meaning to be preserved.
The inspiration stems from a drawing created by the client's two daughters to represent their family. That spontaneous mark, created without technical constraints, became the foundation to listen to and translate without losing its intention. The project also incorporated the gemstones from the parents' engagement ring, transforming a pre-existing memory into a Christmas gift intended for the mother.
I developed La famiglia in 18-carat yellow gold with a natural oval emerald and natural diamonds salvaged from a previous ring. 3D modelling and prototyping made it possible to verify volumes, heights and proportions before lost-wax casting. Prong setting, polishing and quality control completed a structure designed to protect the gemstones and ensure continuous wear.
