The Italian Wedding Awards with a judge Anna Frascisco, for the Jewellery category awarded me. Me, Antonio Colonna, Master Goldsmith of Altamura that triumphs in the wedding sector jewellery category, nationwide. Did I expect it? No! The fact is that it happened and for me it was an enormous satisfaction, enough to make me remember why I chose this path.

Another big surprise was seeing Puglia as the most award-winning of all Italian regions, reaffirming its status as one of the most romantic destinations in the world. Today more than ever, both domestic and above all international audiences are increasingly in search of the characteristic and unique, and the’Apulian Style she has shown that she knows how and what to propose. It is precisely on this point that I would like to dwell.

The triumph of tailoring

The Italian Wedding Awards am an annual award that rewarding excellence in Italian weddingsThe sectors vary, amongst which are: bridal wear, groom's wear, banqueting, wedding cars, cake designers, destination wedding planners, videographers, photographers and, of course, jewellery. The winners of the regional selections reach the national final, which this year it took place at Venaria Reale of Turin, one of the prestigious Savoy residences.

What has this victory meant for my category?

The strength of the true roots of Made in Italy prevails, surpassing the world of industrialised jewellery which in most cases today consists only of imported objects. A genuine triumph of the experience and of the tailored piece of jewellery, an innovative method capable of enhancing tradition, exclusivity and authentic emotions. Finally the Master Goldsmith, actor and industry heavyweight, after quite a long time (unfortunately) spent behind the scenes serving major industrial brands, is back taking centre stage. Fantastic!

The victory of the Master craftsman

The award ceremony in Turin has supported the work I have carried out over these 28 years: swimming against the tide of engineered and branded jewellery. Therefore, against the ideologies and market conventions that still seem to dominate today.
It was a bit’ the victory of David over Goliath. That of a Master Goldsmith, heir and custodian of craftsmanship, creativity, expertise and tradition, that creates constantly unique jewellery and experiences, against large multi-brand jewellery stores serving mass production. In the context of wedding jewellery, exclusivity and creativity beat mass production and banality; this, more than the prize itself, was the real victory.

With this award I have, in fact, been faced with the confirmation that the idea of choosing a precious item must be an opportunity for each of us to reflect on the role that our past, present and future has had and will have.
Passion and love, I know, are more about enthusiasm than reflection. But every time that I host clients in my workshop, through their hearts and their stories, I am allowed to peer into the creative power of life. Listening to the stories and brushing against their feelings, every time I realise that what really matters is not what we have been or what we believe we are.

What in my opinion should be put deep into our melting pots, where thoughts, emotions and dreams merge, it is above all what we wish to be. Now that would shape our future, showing us the path to take in our present.
