It's incredible. I have once again been awarded at the Italian Wedding Awards, in the jewellery category, confirming the path begun with the awards obtained in previous editions.
For me, this award represents more than just a personal victory. It's the confirmation of a vision: jewellery for weddings shouldn't be a mass-produced item, but a creation capable of safeguarding thought, intuition, experience, and meaning.
Italian Wedding Awards: a special edition
The Italian Wedding Awards, Now in their sixth edition, they reward the excellence and professionalism of Italian weddings across various categories: jewellery, wedding dresses, groom's attire, banqueting, wedding cars, cake designers, destination wedding planners, videographers, and photographers.
This edition has brought the wedding industry into a particular context, transforming the event into an experience linked to the world of bleisure and choosing the MSC Seaview as the setting.
Following the recognition received in previous editions, I have been confirmed as the national winner in the Jewellery category, among the best suppliers for weddings.
The jury, composed of national and international judges, wished to reward once again not only Antonio Colonna, but a precise idea: behind every important jewel there should be a thought, an intuition, a concept, and a true, first-hand lived experience.
Tailored jewel and mass-produced jewel
Since I started my career, I have always been on the side of Vero. Made in Italy. and of the jewel designed for a specific person.
To make known the importance of choosing a Bespoke personalised jewellery means defending a creative process that starts from the idea, goes through the project and arrives at the delivery of something that could not belong to anyone else.
When I want to explain the difference between industrial jewellery and bespoke jewellery, I often use a simple metaphor. Mass-produced jewellery is like a car: it can change its model, finish or detail, but it is created to be replicated.
The sartorial or artisanal jewel, on the other hand, is a bespoke car. It is born for a specific story, for a precise desire, for a real person.
This applies to an engagement ring, a wedding band, a narrative jewel, or any creation destined to commemorate an important life passage.
In recent years, many people have become accustomed to valuing a piece of jewellery primarily by its price, brand, or notoriety. However, a significant piece of jewellery contains much more: listening, design, material, technique, symbolism, and responsibility.
The meaning of victory
I am well aware that, for many people, buying jewellery still means going into a traditional jeweller's shop and choosing from ready-made items. This is understandable: not everyone knows about the option of commissioning a unique piece of jewellery, designed and made around their own story.
Thanks to these acknowledgements and the clients who share their desires, memories and projects with me every day, I feel I have forged a different path: a more personal, mindful and authentic way of experiencing jewellery.
Since 1993, the year I embarked on my journey to become Master Goldsmith, I maintain the same belief: through a piece of jewellery, you don't just give a precious object. You give a feeling, a fragment of life, a meaning, an emotion destined to remain.
