The creation

Snowflake is a ring with sapphire e diamonds in 18-carat white gold, designed with a distinct and luminous central presence. The natural fancy mixed-cut sapphire becomes the focal point of the composition, while the natural diamonds build a crown of light around the gemstone. The shank maintains a clean line, leaving the basket and claws to define identity, height, and proportion on the hand.

Do you want to design a ring around your gemstone?

This creation can inspire a new bespoke ring, designed around the gemstone, the proportions of the hand, and the desired character.

In the initial meeting, I gather the idea, intended use, proportions and materials to evaluate a concrete design direction.

Personalised jewellery

Snowflake belongs to the archive of creations made and is to be read as a testimony of method, not as a form to be repeated identically. A new project always stems from direct listening: person, hand, gemstone, materials, intended use and meaning are redesigned every time. In my workshop in Altamura I follow this step with care, because true customisation is not about adding a detail, but about building a coherent form.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The inspiration stems from discussions with the client and classic images of traditional basket-set rings. The request was not to replicate an already existing shape, but to develop a personal structure, recognisable above all in the claws and the basket. The gemstone guided the design: the neither round nor oval sapphire required a bespoke construction, capable of accommodating it without forcing its profile.

Materials and finishes

For this ring I worked on 18-carat white gold, natural diamonds and a natural fancy mixed-cut sapphire. 3D modelling and prototyping made it possible to check heights, thicknesses and proportions before lost-wax casting. The claw setting holds the gem and diamonds, while polishing and quality control complete a structure designed to combine visual presence with wearability.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.

Do you want to start from a creation like this?

A bespoke ring comes from the meeting of desire, proportions, and technical feasibility. In my Altamura studio, I can help you transform an initial reference into a design that suits the person who will wear it.

The initial meeting is to clarify desires, materials, structure, timelines, and feasibility. It doesn't require an immediate decision.
