Two geckos approach a green presence, as if recognising it as part of their own landscape. The emerald guards the vital centre of the composition, while the figures accompany it without enclosing it, allowing the light to pass through the form. Geckos thus tells of a bond made of observation, care and respect: a small treasure chest of hope entrusted to nature, as a gesture of love towards what grows, changes and continues to live.
Gechi belongs to my archive of completed works and stems from a personal relationship with nature, translated into a structure designed for the gem and the hand. It is not a shape to be replicated: every new piece of jewellery is redesigned considering symbols, proportions, materials, intended use and the intensity of the narrative.
The project stems from the client's connection with nature and with geeks, familiar presences in her imagination as a landscape architect. I transformed this relationship into a composition that does not simply reproduce an animal, but interprets its way of adhering to, observing and crossing surfaces.
The emerald becomes the vital centre of the design, while the figures at the sides build a gesture of protection and continuity.
I developed the ring through 3D modelling and prototyping, verifying the relationship between the emerald, side figures, heights and thicknesses with the client. After the lost-wax casting of the 18-carat white gold, the natural diamonds were pave-set and the cabochon emerald was rub-over set.
Polishing defines the transitions between surfaces, while quality control checks stability, finishes and wearability.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
