White gold ring with an octagonal aquamarine and natural diamonds viewed from the front

Family aquamarine

A white gold ring with a family aquamarine, designed to the actual proportions of the gemstone

The creation

Family aquamarine is a white gold ring with natural aquamarine octagon cut and natural diamonds. The central gemstone defines the axis of the composition, while the diamonds build a luminous frame with a structured rhythm. The minimalist shank allows the head of the ring to stand out; on the hand, the contrast between the sharp geometry of the aquamarine and the freer flow of the halo creates a distinctive yet balanced presence.

Let's give your gem a new shape

This creation can inspire a new bespoke ring, developed around a personal gemstone, the hand and the needs of the wearer.

I oversee the project directly, from the evaluation of the gemstone to the prototype testing and final inspection.

Personalised jewellery

This creation belongs to my archive and documents the process by which an existing gemstone can become the centrepiece of a new project. It is not a design to be replicated identically: each ring is redesigned taking into account the size and characteristics of the stone, the anatomy of the hand, proportions, materials, intended use and wearability.

In my laboratory in Altamura I personally oversee every choice, from the initial design to the final inspection.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The client found a starting point in my Creations gallery to imagine a new setting around a family-inherited aquamarine. I didn't replicate an existing shape: I designed an exclusive drawing to the gem's measurements, defining the relationship between the octagonal profile, diamonds and shank.

The comparison and testing of the prototype made it possible to directly evaluate heights, thicknesses and proportions prior to final production.

Materials and finishes

I developed the structure through 3D modelling and prototyping, adapting it to the natural aquamarine and its octagonal geometry. Following the lost-wax casting of the 18-carat white gold, the aquamarine and natural diamonds were assembled using claw setting.

Polishing makes the transitions between stem, bowl and mounts legible; quality control concludes the work by checking finishes, stability and structural consistency.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.

Do you want to start from a creation like this?

An heirloom stone requires listening, technical responsibility, precise measurements and a structure designed around its characteristics. In my studio in Altamura we will evaluate shape, proportions and feasibility together.

The initial meeting is to clarify desires, materials, structure, timelines, and feasibility. It doesn't require an immediate decision.
