Cushion

A white gold ring with sapphire and diamonds, designed for down-to-earth elegance even on formal occasions

The creation

Cushion is a white gold ring with natural sapphire e natural diamonds, organised around a compact head with a soft, geometric profile. The central gemstone concentrates the colour, while the diamond border distributes a continuous light without weighing down the design.

The essential stem accompanies the composition and lets the head emerge; on the hand, the piece of jewellery maintains presence, balance and a clear reading from every angle.

We design a ring that suits the way you wear it

A cushion cut can inspire a bespoke ring, built around the gemstone, the hand and the actual habits of the person who will wear it.

I personally oversee the choice of proportions, the prototype, the manufacturing process and the final inspection.

Personalised jewellery

Cushion belongs to my archive of completed works and documents how a functional requirement can guide design just as much as the choice of gemstones. It is not a shape to be simply reproduced: every new ring is redesigned taking into account the hand, materials, height, occasions for use and comfort. In my workshop in Altamura I personally oversee every stage, so that the initial reference becomes an independent solution that is consistent with the person.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project stems from the gallery of my creations and a very specific request: to create a ring suited to evenings at the theatre, capable of coexisting with the wearing of gloves without creating any obstacles when putting them on or taking them off.

I therefore worked on the relationship between height, head profile and the shank transition, turning an aesthetic desire into a solution built around the client's actual habits.

Materials and finishes

I developed Cushion through 3D modelling and prototyping, checking the head height, overhangs, fillets and the proportion to the finger before final production. After the lost-wax casting of the 18-carat white gold, the natural sapphire was prong-set and the natural diamonds were pavé-set.

Polishing and quality control complete the work, with attention to the finishes, stability and smoothness in use.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.

Do you want to start from a creation like this?

A bespoke piece of jewellery must converse with the hand, the occasions and everyday gestures. In my studio in Altamura, we will evaluate gemstones, proportions, height and comfort together.

The initial meeting is to clarify desires, materials, structure, timelines, and feasibility. It doesn't require an immediate decision.
