Classic Emerald belongs to my archive of completed works and bears witness to a project built around a specific gemstone and requests defined with the client. It is not a shape to be replicated: every new ring is redesigned taking into consideration the stone, the anatomy of the hand, height, thickness, intended use and wearability.
In my workshop in Altamura I personally oversee the relationship between idea, proportions and construction solution.
The project originates from images of traditional basket rings selected by the client, taken as a reference rather than a shape to be replicated. The desire was to achieve a more personal construction in the relationship between the shank, prongs and basket support.
After choosing the emerald together for its colour, I developed the entire structure around the real proportions of the gemstone, checking heights, thicknesses and presence on the hand through the prototype.
I made the 18-carat white gold ring using 3D modelling, prototyping and lost-wax casting. The natural oval emerald and natural diamonds were set using claw setting, designed in relation to the geometry of the basket.
The final polishing accompanies the passage of light; quality control concludes a process focused on the stability, finish and durability of the structure over time.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
