Bacio belongs to my archive of creations and documents a completed research around a person, a gemstone and precise formal requests. It is not a shape to be repeated: for a new project I redesign proportions, setting, materials and the relationship with the stone, taking into account the hand, the intended use and durability requirements. The creation shown therefore serves as a reference to understand a method and begin a new bespoke design.
The client wanted to move away from the more usual forms of the solitaire and had identified in Two-tone Gem a reference capable of opening up a different direction. From that inspiration, I developed a new structure, working on the relationship between the shank, the setting, and the diamond. The main request was to make the gesture of a kiss recognisable without turning it into a literal sign, allowing the construction itself to suggest the shape.
I developed Bacio in 18-carat white and rose gold with a natural diamond through 3D modelling and prototyping. Before final production, the client was able to try on the piece of jewellery, evaluating proportions, heights and thicknesses with me. Lost-wax casting, hammer setting, polishing and quality control completed a process in which the structure was also designed with careful attention to solidity and durability over time.
