Gemma Bicolore belongs to my archive and documents a journey born from a precise diamond, references chosen by the client and a custom-built solution. In my atelier in Altamura, a new creation does not start over from this same mounting: I consider the person, the proportions, the gems, the materials, the intended use and the meaning to be expressed, developing each time an independent structure that is consistent with the new project.
The client started from images of classic engagement rings, but wanted a setting with its own identity, particularly in the way it cradled the stone. I developed the setting by taking as a reference a flower that shares the name of the future bride, without turning it into a literal representation. The botanical suggestion thus enters the design through curves and coils, while the symmetry keeps the overall piece neat and contemporary.
I designed Gemma Bicolore in 18-carat white and rose gold around a natural diamond, adapting the structure to the proportions of the gemstone. 3D modelling and prototyping made it possible to check heights, thicknesses and presence on the finger before final production. This was followed by lost-wax casting, flush setting, polishing and quality control, with attention to the balance between the setting, the shank and wearability.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
