Valentine belongs to my archive of already completed creations and documents a solution born for a specific request. A new pair of earrings is redesigned considering the person, proportions, materials, available stones, use and meaning, so that every choice has a design rationale and does not stem from the simple repetition of this creation.
The project began as a gesture to Valentine's Day and it also holds the reference to the 2nd of August, their anniversary. The request took shape in two rubies at heart, the day, flanked overall by eight diamonds, the month. Transforming a few precisely chosen elements into a personal composition. I worked on the relationship between the shape, number and arrangement of the stones without adding meanings other than those indicated by the client.
I developed the 18-carat white gold structure through 3D modelling and prototyping, checking the proportions and gem placement prior to lost-wax casting. The claw setting holds rubies and diamonds while letting light in around the stones. In my workshop in Altamura, I personally oversee the polishing and final inspection, paying close attention to the symmetry of the pair and how they sit on the earlobe.
