The initial meeting serves to clarify history, design direction and feasibility, without requiring an immediate decision.
A song heard almost by chance on the beach became the private symbol of a relationship: a slow dance, a declaration of love, then the desire to turn that memory into a marriage proposal. In the design, I made the two mermaids a reference to the song and the seascape; at the centre, the lemon quartz is the core cradled by the composition. The story is not illustrated literally: it takes shape through figures, light and material.
Sirene belongs to my archive of completed creations and documents a design approach, not a shape to be repeated. Each new piece of jewellery is redesigned starting from the individual: I listen to their story, assess proportions, materials, use, wearability and meaning, and then develop a solution consistent with that narrative.
The project stems from a song heard on the beach during a holiday: “Le Sirene”, the title of a slow track by Vinicio Capossela, thanks to which Enrique, in the dawn light, found the strength to declare his love. When he decided to pop the question, he asked me to transform that memory into a piece of jewellery. I translated the allusion to the sea and the song into two sirens guarding the lemon quartz, making the pendant a shape capable of holding that transition from memory to promise. I developed Sirene through 3D modelling and prototyping, so as to verify proportions, heights, thicknesses and how it sits on the body prior to production. The transition to physical material involved lost-wax casting, burin engraving, polishing and quality control. Yellow gold, lemon quartz and diamonds they work together to distinguish volumes, surfaces and points of light, while keeping the figurative structure of the pendant legible.
