Handcrafted Ardesia rose gold wedding rings with a rock-relief-inspired surface

Slate

18-carat rose gold wedding rings moulded from the contours of a piece of slate kept by the couple

The creation

Ardesia is a pair of handcrafted 18-carat rose gold wedding rings, characterised by an irregular surface that mirrors the reliefs of the rock chosen by the couple. The bands have a full, tactile presence: planes, hollows and variations in thickness alter the way the light flows across the metal. On the hand the profile remains compact, whilst the surface makes every movement visually dynamic and deliberate.

Which fragment of your history could become matter?

Even a fragment connected to your story can become the starting point for wedding rings designed around you.

The initial consultation is used to recognise what is of value to you and to understand how to transform it, with proportion, into scale, surface and material.

Narrative wedding rings

A rock collected beneath a vineyard becomes here a tangible memory of unforeseen events, coincidences and choices that have marked the couple's journey. Its reliefs are not idealised: they remain irregular, textured, concrete. Transferred onto the wedding rings, they transform that fragment preserved over time into a trace to be carried with one. Slate thus links place, profession and personal history in a sign that continues to change with the light, without losing its origin.

Ardesia belongs to my archive of completed creations and preserves a solution born from a specific rock, place and story. Every new project is redesigned around the people, the proportions of the hands, the materials, the use and the chosen meaning.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project originates from a piece of slate collected beneath a vineyard and treasured by the couple, both professional sommeliers. That place is tied to unexpected events and coincidences that took on a specific meaning for them. I therefore worked on the actual contours of the rock, transforming its shape into a surface to be worn: not an added decorative motif, but a material trace capable of bringing that chapter of their story back to memory.

Materials and finishes

For Ardesia, I worked in 18-carat rose gold through 3D modelling, prototyping, lost-wax casting, polishing and quality control. The prototypes allowed the couple, who live in Berlin, to check sizes, heights, thicknesses and proportions before the final creation. I also followed the preliminary phase remotely via video call; the process then concluded in my workshop in Altamura.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.
