Passione belongs to my archive of created works and documents a method based on listening, the testing of proportions and design centered around the gemstone. It is not a shape to be repeated: a new ring is redesigned taking into account the person, the hand, the chosen materials, the intended use and the desired balance. In my workshop in Altamura I directly oversee every step, so that the design finds its own formal identity and a coherent construction.
The project was born from direct consultation with the client, who was involved in the stylistic definition of the shank and, above all, the setting. The starting point was a natural pear-cut tourmaline, chosen for its colour through research on the national market. From that gemstone I developed a bespoke structure, checking the direction of the curves, proportions and overall presence with the client.
Customisation therefore concerned the entire architecture of the ring, not a simple added detail.
I developed this piece of jewellery through pencil drawing and 3D modelling, and prototyping made it possible to check the relationship between the gemstone, setting and shank prior to final manufacturing, verifying heights, thicknesses and proportions directly on the hand. Production continued with lost-wax casting, pavé and bezel setting, polishing and quality control, combining design precision, structural solidity and wearability.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
