A grain falls far from what it knows and goes through a difficult passage; right there in the earth, however, it finds the space to put down roots, grow and become an ear of corn. It is this transformation that guides Chicchi di grano: not the literal representation of an episode, but the transition from fragility to the possibility of a fresh start. In the couple's story, the wheat thus becomes an image of support, shared growth and new life.
Chicchi di grano belongs to my archive and retains the shape created for a specific story. The creation shown testifies to a method: listening to a meaning, transforming it into a design, and finding a shape that truly belongs to the person who will wear it.
The inspiration comes from the tale entrusted to me by the couple: a story marked by difficulties, change and the ability to start afresh. I translated that core into a fairy tale centred on a grain of wheat, which falls, finds the opportunity to put down roots in the earth, and finally grows until it produces a new ear of corn. The piece of jewellery does not literally illustrate the story, but carries within its form the idea of transformation, support and rebirth.
I developed the 18-carat white gold ring with natural marquise-cut diamonds through 3D modelling and prototyping. Before final production, the client was able to try out its volumes, evaluating proportions, heights and thicknesses together. Following lost-wax casting, the subsequent construction stages took place up to the prong setting of the diamonds, also directly exploring the characteristics that determine its quality.
