Queen belongs to my archive of created works and documents a process of listening, design and proportion testing. A new engagement ring is redesigned around the individual, the hand, the chosen materials, the intended use and the meaning of the promise. The value of the reference lies in demonstrating a concrete method, from which a different project, coherent with the wearer, can begin.
The name Queen comes from a precise definition given by the client: to him, the bride-to-be is his queen. From this phrase, I developed a formal direction inspired by the crown, transforming it into a structure that can be read through rhythm, symmetry and light, without resorting to a literal symbol. Discussion guided the choices of proportion, so that the initial meaning found a form suited to the person and the gesture of the proposal.
For Queen, I combined 18-carat white gold and natural diamonds with a process of 3D modelling, prototyping, lost-wax casting, prong setting, polishing and quality control. The prototype was decisive: the customer was able to try on the piece of jewellery before final production, allowing them to check the proportions, heights and thicknesses of the structure. In my workshop in Altamura, I oversee this transition between digital design, physical testing and finishing directly.
