Heart of light white gold heart-cut diamond engagement ring

Heart of light

A ring built around a heart-shaped diamond, with proportions defined on the gem and verified together with the client

The creation

Heart of light is an engagement ring with diamond an 18-carat white gold heart, designed to make the central gemstone the focal point of the composition. Around the heart, natural diamonds build a broader luminous presence, while the shank maintains a restrained line. The client followed the ring's development directly up to the setting, thereby entering the journey that connects gem selection, proportions and craftsmanship.

Let’s design the ring starting from the gemstone you chose

Heart of Light shows how the choice of a gemstone can become the starting point for designing a new ring around the person and their promise.

The first consultation is to understand which gemstone to choose and how to build a ring around it that is coherent with the person who will wear it.

Personalised jewellery

Heart of light belongs to my archive and documents a project built around a gemstone chosen for a specific person. For a new ring, on the other hand, I start again from the stone, the hand, the proportions, the materials, the intended use and the meaning that will have to accompany it. The creation shown therefore serves to understand the method: each new structure is redesigned so that gemstone and shape find a coherent balance with the person who will wear it.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project starts from images of traditional basket-style rings selected by the client, but finds its own identity in the choice of the heart-shaped diamond to be given to the future bride during a trip to London. From that gemstone I developed the structure, defining its proportions and presence before final manufacturing. The client also explored the characteristics of diamonds with me and followed every step right up to their setting.

Materials and finishes

I developed Heart of Light in 18-carat white gold around the natural heart-cut diamond and the other natural diamonds. 3D modelling and prototyping allowed the customer to check the proportions, heights and thicknesses of the structure prior to production. After lost-wax casting, it followed the direct path to the claw setting of the gems; polishing and quality control completed the work.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.

Do you want to start from a creation like this?

In my studio in Altamura I can guide you through choosing the gemstone and developing the setting, checking proportions and how it sits on the hand together before the subsequent stages of crafting.

The initial meeting is to clarify desires, materials, structure, timelines, and feasibility. It doesn't require an immediate decision.
