I follow the transition from the idea to the verification of the form directly, keeping aesthetic intention, proportions and feasibility together.
Gemma Bianca belongs to my archive and documents how a previous geometry can evolve into an autonomous design. In my studio in Altamura, I do not transfer the same solution from one person to another: each new ring is redesigned considering the hand, gemstone, materials, intended use and desired character. The initial reference serves to guide the dialogue, not to determine the final shape in advance.
The client had recognised an interesting direction in the geometry of Gemma Bicolore, but wanted to translate it into a more uniform language, entrusted entirely to white gold. From that reference I developed a different solitaire, working on the relationship between the continuity of the shank, the opening of the setting and the centrality of the stone. The aim was to move away from the most conventional solutions without resorting to superfluous decorative effects.
I developed Gemma Bianca in 18-carat white gold with a natural diamond through 3D modelling and prototyping. The preliminary test made it possible to observe the piece of jewellery in relation to the hand and to correct, where necessary, heights, thicknesses and proportions before final production. This was followed by lost-wax casting, flush setting, polishing and quality control, with a focus on structural continuity and wearability.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
