Corona

A white gold engagement ring built around the light and proportions of its diamond

The creation

Corona is an 18-carat white gold bespoke engagement ring featuring diamond natural, designed to give centrality to the gemstone without weighing down its presence. The shank guides the eye upward with a fluid movement, while the prong setting keeps the relationship between metal and light open. On the hand, the overall design retains an essential feel, with a balanced progression between structure, height and the central point of light.

From your idea to a ring designed for your promise

Corona shows how a classical reference can become the starting point for a new engagement ring designed around a person and their gemstone.

The initial meeting serves to clarify desires, gemstone, proportions and design direction before defining the shape.

Personalised jewellery

Corona belongs to my archive of completed works and documents a design method, not a form to be replicated serially. A new ring would start again from the person, the chosen gemstone, the proportions of the hand, the materials, the intended use and the meaning of the promise. The aim is to redesign each element so that idea, construction and wearability find a specific balance for the wearer.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project started from images of classic white gold solitaire rings chosen by the client, but the request also called for a personal touch. The name Corona stems from what he calls his loved one, “queen”: a reference that guided the character of the setting without turning it into a literal symbol. I developed the shape around the available gemstone, comparing it directly with the desired proportions.

Materials and finishes

I designed a crown in 18-carat white gold around a natural diamond, digitally defining the structure, heights and thicknesses prior to creation. 3D modelling and prototyping allowed the client to physically check the proportions, followed by lost-wax casting, prong setting, polishing and quality control. In my workshop in Altamura, I personally oversee every step from design to final inspection.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.

Do you want to start from a creation like this?

We can start with a gemstone, a stylistic reference or a personal detail and together develop the proportions, shape and presence of the ring.

The initial meeting is to clarify desires, materials, structure, timelines, and feasibility. It doesn't require an immediate decision.
