In the lotus, the visible part is born from what remains beneath the surface: a growth that passes through the water and reaches the light. For this creation, I have kept the narrative within the form, entrusting it to the petals and their alternation between white and pink gold. At the centre, the light of the diamond becomes the destination of the journey: not a didactic explanation, but a presence that accompanies a day of transition and union.
Fiore di loto belongs to my archive of previously created pieces and documents a solution born for a specific person and occasion. A new project is redesigned considering who will wear it, the proportions of the face, the materials, the use, and the meaning to be held within. The reference can guide the initial dialogue, but the final form must find its own balance.
The request stems from her son's wedding: the groom's mother wanted to gift the bride a pair of lotus flower earrings. In the symbolism specified for the project, the flower evokes purity, rebirth and the ability to emerge from difficulties. I translated this intention into an orderly form, where white gold, rose gold and a central light construct a recognisable sign without making it literal and personal.
I developed the shape using 3D modelling and prototyping to control overlaps, volumes and the relationship between the petals before lost-wax casting. The natural diamonds are set using flush setting; the polishing distinguishes the surfaces and enhances the contrast between 18-carat white and rose gold. In my workshop in Altamura, I also directly oversee the final quality control of the creation.
