Florentine style belongs to my archive of already realised creations. It bears witness to a precise encounter between taste, technique and proportions, but it is not a form to be copied. Every new project is redesigned around the person. I consider use, materials, stones and the desired decorative intensity. The initial reference thus becomes the starting point for a standalone solution that is consistent with the person who will wear it.
The project originates as Christmas present for someone with a classic, refined and elegant style. I interpreted this brief through two shades of gold, diamonds and traditional engraving. I wasn’t trying to reconstruct a historical ornament. I wanted to retain its restraint and richness, adapting them to the proportions of earrings designed specifically for the person who would wear them.
I developed the structure using 3D modelling and prototyping, prior to lost-wax casting. The bead setting integrates the diamonds into the design. The burin engraving in the Florentine style instead defines the surfaces with minute, controlled marks. The polishing enhances the contrast between engraved parts and bright areas. In my workshop in Altamura I also oversee the final quality control of the piece.
