Andalusite

Two gems tied to a journey become the centre of a vertical, luminous and measured composition

The creation

The andalusite earrings and diamonds they develop a vertical line ending in the two trillion-cut gems. The upper structure, which is thinner and brighter, guides the gaze towards the andalusite, leaving it to play the starring role. The contrast between the geometry of the stone, the elongated shape and the tiny points of light creates an elegant and dynamic presence, designed to follow the face without weighing it down.

Bring to the studio a stone that already holds a story

A stone already charged with memory can guide a new project built around the person who will wear it.

The initial meeting serves to figure out which part of the memory can become form and which technical choices can support it.

Personalised jewellery

Andalusite belongs to my archive of already realised creations. Its strength lies in the precise relationship between a concrete story, existing gemstones and a form designed around them. A new pair of earrings does not stem from the repetition of this solution: I start afresh from the person, the available stones, the use, the facial proportions and the meaning that the new project must hold, to arrive at an autonomous and coherent result.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project stems from a pair of andalusites bought during a honeymoon in Andalusia. For Easter, those gems became the centre of a new gesture: transforming a shared memory into something to be worn. I chose not to add symbols extraneous to the story. The tale remains entrusted to the stones themselves, to their origin and to the transition from holiday memory to everyday presence.

Materials and finishes

I developed the earrings through 3D modelling and prototyping to control the proportions, articulation and relationship between the upper section and the andalusites. Following lost-wax casting, I carried out the stated prong and flush settings, followed by polishing and quality control. In my workshop in Altamura, I oversee every step personally, with a focus on the symmetry of the pair and the neatness of the finishes.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.

Do you want to start from a creation like this?

From a gem chosen at a significant moment I can develop a new shape, designed to safeguard its origin without overloading it with symbols.

The initial meeting is to clarify desires, materials, structure, timelines, and feasibility. It doesn't require an immediate decision.
