Yellow fingerprints belong to my archive of created works and document a solution developed around a specific couple. Every new project is redesigned considering people, hand proportions, material, daily use and meaning. Even when the starting point is a fingerprint, the position of the trace, the curve of the band and the relationship between surfaces must be studied afresh for the wearer of the wedding rings.
The project stems from a few wedding bands in my gallery, chosen by the couple to clarify the desired structure and character. The customisation takes shape when their original fingerprints become part of the surface design. The artist's concept thus changes perspective: it does not refer to the person who crafts the rings, but to the two people who are building a new family unit and embedding a trace of their shared life project into the material.
For these wedding rings I worked in 18-carat yellow gold through 3D modelling, prototyping, lost-wax casting, polishing and quality control. The original fingerprints were integrated into the design and transferred onto the metal surface through casting. The prototypes allowed the couple to check sizes, heights, thicknesses and proportions before production, keeping a direct relationship between the idea, testing and wearability.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
