Yellow fingerprints belong to my archive of completed creations and document a solution developed for a specific couple. Every new wedding ring project is redesigned starting from the individuals, hand proportions, material, daily use and chosen meaning. A fingerprint, a texture or a structure can suggest a direction, but must find a new balance every time.
I started with some creations from my gallery, chosen by the couple as a reference to define a personal shape. The decisive step was to bring their original fingerprints onto the wedding bands: not as a simple decoration, but as a sign of those who are building a new family unit. The artist, in this case, is not the one who makes the rings: it is them, the authors of a new life project, whilst the ring preserves its trace in a wearable form.
For these wedding rings I worked in 18-carat yellow gold using 3D modelling, prototyping, lost-wax casting, polishing and quality control. The original fingerprints were integrated into the creation process and transferred onto the metal surface through casting. The prototypes made it possible to check sizes, heights, thicknesses and proportions; the couple followed the process right through to delivery, also taking part in the Goldsmiths for a Day experience.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
