Setate belongs to my archive of completed creations and documents a design journey built with a specific couple. When I develop new wedding rings, I start again from the people, their hands and the way they wish to wear them every day. Shape, proportions, metal, surfaces and details are therefore redesigned to build a project consistent with the usage, preferences and meaning that the couple wishes to give it.
The project started from images that the couple had selected from my gallery of already made wedding bands. From those references we sought a personal shape, intervening not only on the appearance of the band but also on the character of its decoration. The discussion continued during the design process, transforming an initial direction into a solution tailored to the preferences and actual proportions of the future bride and groom.
I have crafted Setate in 18-carat rose gold using traditional goldsmithing techniques and handcrafting. The Florentine-style burin engraving creates the visual rhythm of the surfaces and requires continuity of movement along the circumference. Before the final forging, the couple were able to measure the prototypes, checking heights, thicknesses and proportions together with me.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
