The first consultation serves to define the shape, proportions, material and method for integrating your personal mark into the structure of the rings.
Torcion fingerprints belongs to my archive of created works and documents a solution developed for this couple. Each new project is redesigned taking into account people, hand proportions, material, daily use and meaning. Even when starting from a previously seen fingerprint or structure, the position of the mark, the flow of the band and the relationships between the surfaces must be studied anew.
The project originates from some wedding rings in my gallery chosen by the couple to clarify the desired shape and character. The customisation took a more personal direction when their fingerprints were scanned and integrated into the surface. The concept is that of the artist understood as the couple themselves: not the person who makes the wedding rings, but the person who is giving shape to a new family unit and a shared life project.
For these wedding rings I worked in 18-carat rose gold through 3D modelling, prototyping, lost-wax casting, polishing and quality control. The fingerprints were scanned and transferred onto the metal through the casting process. The prototypes made it possible to check sizes, heights, thicknesses and proportions; the couple followed the entire journey right through to delivery, also taking part in the experience Goldsmiths for a Day experience.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
