Charlotte belongs to my archive of created works and bears witness to how a formal reference can be transformed through a new design. Every pair of wedding rings is redesigned taking into account the people, hand proportions, material, comfort, daily wear and desired character. Even when the starting point is visual, the result always stems from discussion and new design choices.
The project started with images of wedding rings viewed online and selected by the couple as an initial reference, not as a shape to be reproduced. The work focused on building a new proportion: the size, thickness and frequency of the repeated elements became part of the customisation. Through discussion with the couple, I transformed a visual suggestion into a structure tailored to their needs and the desired presence on the finger.
For Charlotte, I worked in 18-carat yellow gold using 3D modelling, prototyping, lost-wax casting, polishing and quality control. The prototypes played a central role: the couple were able to try them on before the final creation and check the sizes, heights, thicknesses and spacing of the elements along the circumference. I also followed the preliminary phase remotely, before welcoming the couple to my studio in Altamura.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
