Handcrafted white gold Ricami ring with an engraved surface and decorative texture made by Antonio Colonna

Embroideries

A white gold ring with burin engraving, born from the encounter between Florentine goldsmithing and the art of embroidery.

The creation

Ricami is a custom-made white gold ring featuring a wide, rounded and visually enveloping band. The engraved surface alternates between minute backgrounds, floral motifs and luminous marks that lighten the compact volume of the metal.

On the hand it maintains a resolute yet balanced presence: the curvature follows the finger, while the studied design invites one to observe the piece of jewellery from multiple angles, discovering continuous variations between engraving, relief and light.

Let's shape your bespoke ring

Embroidery can inspire a new bespoke ring, redesigned through proportions, surfaces and craftsmanship consistent with the person who will wear it.

I also follow the project online directly from the verification of the proportions, while the manufacturing takes place in my workshop in Altamura.

Personalised jewellery

Ricami belongs to my archive of completed works and documents a journey born from a precise dialogue with the client. It is not a design to be replicated identically: every new ring is redesigned taking into account the anatomy of the hand, proportions, material, intended use and desired character.

In my workshop in Altamura I personally oversee every step, so that the initial reference becomes an independent project, coherent with the person who will wear it.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project stems from the client's love for traditional Florentine burin engraving and her skill in embroidery and crochet. I sought a meeting point between these manual languages, translating the patience of thread into a rich yet orderly goldsmith's surface.

The comparison during the design phase was crucial: the volume test made it possible to evaluate directly on the hand the width, height and visual intensity of the band.

Materials and finishes

I hand-sculpted the wax to build the model and gradually check its thicknesses and proportions. After lost-wax casting, the 18-carat white gold ring was crafted using Florentine-style burin engraving.

The technique does not act as a simple finish: it alters the way the surface captures the light, creates minute depth, and makes a deliberately broad and compact structure more vibrant.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.
