Santa Rita belongs to my portfolio of completed works and represents a solution developed for a specific request. Each new pendant starts with the person who will wear it and is redesigned considering proportions, materials, use, wearability and meaning. In my studio in Altamura, I personally oversee the transition from the initial reference to the construction, ensuring that every project finds its own formal and technical coherence.
The request stems from the desire to translate the image of Saint Rita into gold, chosen by the client out of devotion and to commemorate a special event. I treated the reference as a figurative starting point, aiming for a clear and contemplative interpretation rather than a simple decorative transposition. The project therefore focused attention on the relationship between the subject, the oval field and the reliefs, so that the personal meaning remained entrusted to the presence of the image.
I developed the shape through 3D modelling and prototyping to verify proportions, heights and thicknesses prior to crafting in 18-carat yellow gold. Production involved lost-wax casting, assembly and burin engraving, followed by polishing and quality control. In the relief sections, I worked to maintain the balance between volume definition, surface continuity and the overall solidity of the pendant.
