Life

An 18-carat rose gold pendant that intertwines protection, family union and gratitude for a new birth

The creation

La Vita is an 18-carat rose gold narrative pendant built around an open circular shape. Two adult hands define the profile and guide the gaze towards the centre. Here, a woman's hands in prayer and, in turn, small hands create the core of the composition. Solids and voids keep the gesture legible and lighten the volume. Once worn, the pendant retains a poised presence and allows light to gradually highlight the different planes.

Transforming a lived moment into a jewel to be treasured

Some jewels are not created merely to adorn, but to preserve a passage of life that deserves a form capable of enduring.

The initial meeting serves to clarify the history, symbolic direction, design approach and feasibility, with no immediate commitment.

Narrative jewel

For this family, the piece of jewellery had to encapsulate the transition from fear to gratitude. The arrival of the little girl had changed their outlook on the present and on their existing bonds. I translated this experience through hands that reach out and support one another. The adult hands build a protected space, while the smaller ones become its centre. The narrative thus remains intimate, yet finds a legible form even without knowing every personal detail.

Life belongs to my archive and documents a journey developed for a specific story. Each new piece of jewellery stems from different people, proportions, materials, uses and meanings. In my workshop in Altamura, I oversee every step personally, from listening to the definition of the structure.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

The project stems from the gratitude of two parents after the unexpected arrival of their baby girl. The father wanted to commemorate a family experience marked first by apprehension and then by profound joy. I sought a form capable of speaking about support without describing every detail of the story. The hands became the primary language: they accompany, welcome and converge towards a new presence placed at the centre.

Materials and finishes

I developed the pendant using 3D modelling and prototyping. These stages allowed me to control proportions, thicknesses, openings and the relationship between the different hands. After verifying the design, I created the 18-carat rose gold structure using lost-wax casting. I then oversaw the finishing, polishing and quality control. The aim was to keep the volumes clear and preserve the softness of the figurative gesture.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.
