Hand-modelled white gold Ek Ong Kar narrative pendant with curved lines

Ik ong kar

An 18-carat white gold pendant hand-crafted around a shared spiritual meaning

The creation

The Ek Ong Kar white gold narrative pendant is born from a hand-modelled wire that runs through curves, openings and intersections. I have given the empty spaces a precise role, so that the line maintains lightness and continuity. The lines draw close, change direction and resume their dialogue without creating a solid mass. On the body, the pendant retains a dynamic presence and the polished surface guides the light along every variation of the profile.

A shared meaning can find a personal form

When a symbol truly belongs to a relationship, it can become the starting point for a personal form.

The first meeting serves to understand which part of the story can become form and which is better left confidential.

Narrative jewel

In this story, teaching and private life meet: he is a yoga teacher, she is his wife and was also his student. The gift therefore originates from a journey lived together, in which Ek Ong Kar takes on an intimate meaning beyond that declared by the words that make up the mantra. I chose not to overload the piece of jewellery with figurative explanations. The continuous line becomes the main gesture: it crosses space, creates relationships and leaves open a shape that belongs above all to them.

Ek Ong Kar belongs to my archive and bears witness to a creation born from two people and a specific point of reference. Every project starts with the person, the meaning, the proportions, the materials and the intended use.

From inspiration to design

Inspiration

A yoga teacher wanted to dedicate this jewel to his wife. He chose Ek Ong Kar as a shared reference: Ek means “one”, Ong evokes the primordial vibration of creative consciousness, and Kar indicates “creation” or “made by”. I embraced these meanings as the origin of the project and sought an essential form, capable of speaking of their relationship without adding symbols extraneous to the request.

Materials and finishes

I manually shaped the 18-carat white gold wire, directly controlling the curves, crossovers and distances between the parts. Every variation alters the balance of the design, so the work requires continuity of gesture and precision. Afterwards, I looked after the polishing to make the surface uniform and guide the light along the profile. Quality control concludes the process with a careful check of the construction and finishes.

Certifications and registrations

Technical expertise, professional registrations and qualifications have accompanied the development of my work in the goldsmithing and jewellery field.

Awards and recognition

Since 2009, I have guided private clients and couples through the creation of their jewellery in my atelier. Over thirty years of goldsmithing experience guide every stage: listening, design, workshop, quality control, and delivery. Awards, mentions, and accolades tell the story of the artisanal, technical, and creative journey that underpins my work. Each badge links to an in-depth article on the blog.

How is a piece of jewellery born?

A piece of jewellery can be inspired by a specific request or by a story worth cherishing. It is Custom when it starts with a shape, a stone, a material or a style to be crafted to measure. It becomes narrative When transforming a memory, symbol or personal passage into substance, proportion and meaning. Wedding rings, rings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets can follow both paths. In the Jewellery section, you can discover which one best suits your idea.
