Saxophones belongs to my archive of completed creations and documents how a passion can take shape through goldsmithing work. For every new request, I start afresh with the person, the chosen subject, the proportions and the way it is to be worn. I thus redesign every element so that the initial inspiration leads to an autonomous solution that is consistent with the person who will wear it.
The project was born as a graduation gift from parents to a saxophonist. I chose to start from the instrument that accompanies her musical journey, retaining its essential features. I was not looking for a technical scaled reproduction. The brief asked to maintain a recognisable musical character without reducing it to generic decoration. I wanted to create balanced earrings, capable of linking a personal milestone to a form that can be worn with ease.
I developed the volumes using 3D modelling and prototyping to check the overall reading of the silhouette in advance. Lost-wax casting then transfers the design into metal. I intervene with burin engraving, polishing and quality control. In 18-carat rose gold, I look for a sharp definition of details without losing the fluidity of the line.
Every review reflects a real commission: the initial consultation, the listening process, the definition of the project, the anticipation and the moment the finished piece becomes part of the client’s life.
