Jewellery engraving and micro-engraving course
In person at the atelier · Maximum 2 participants
For beginners and experienced students
Jewellery engraving is an art that requires precision, sensitivity, and control of the mark. Each line is the result of the relationship between the instrument, the metallic surface, and the engraver's hand movements.
In my goldsmith's workshop, engraving is not an isolated technique: it is part of the creative choices and processes that contribute to giving a piece of jewellery its character. Through the experience gained in creating personalised and narrative jewellery, I guide you in understanding the relationship between the engraved mark, the metallic surface, and the desired result.
The lessons alternate between demonstrations and practical exercises with a hand graver and Gravermax, using the microscope when required by the program. The course is aimed at both beginners and goldsmiths and professionals who wish to perfect specific skills, with a maximum of two participants.
Course program
The program is defined before enrollment based on your experience, the techniques you wish to deepen, and the chosen number of hours.
The exercises may include:
Knowledge of the tools for engraving and micro-engraving.
Preparing the design and planning the engraving process.
Preparing gravers and understanding their cutting characteristics.
Exercises on straight lines, curves and variations in the engraved line.
Hand engraving and development of hand control.
Use of Gravermax according to the objectives of the course.
Examining and checking details under the microscope.
Work on flat and curved surfaces, with progressive difficulty.
Finishing and evaluation of the quality of the engraving.
In the shorter courses we focus on fundamental techniques or specific objectives. The longer courses allow for a deeper exploration of different techniques, improving control of the mark and tackling exercises of increasing complexity.
How the lessons are conducted
The training takes place through practical demonstrations, individual exercises, and review of the work processes. After observing the procedure, you work at your own station. During the exercises, we analyze the results together, identifying the aspects to correct to improve the precision and consistency of the engraved line.
The course can focus on traditional hand engraving with a graver, on the use of the Gravermax, or integrate both techniques, according to the agreed program. When required, the microscope allows for detailed observation and control of the quality of the mark.

Frequently asked questions about the engraving and micro-engraving course
Can I attend the course without any experience?
Yes. The program can start with knowledge of the tools and the first exercises on controlling the sign, with progressive difficulty.
What is the difference between a hand graver and Gravermax?
A hand graver allows direct control of the movement and the tool. The Gravermax is a system of assisted engraving that allows the processing to be carried out through a different control of the tool. Both techniques can be deepened in the course, in relation to the agreed objectives.
Is the microscope used during the lessons?
Yes, when provided for by the program. The microscope allows for observing the details of the machining and can be used alongside both hand engraving and work with Gravermax.
How do I choose between 40, 80, 120 and 160 hours?
The duration depends on your experience and the skills you wish to develop. Before enrollment, we assess your goals together and define the most appropriate program.
