Overview of the goldsmith's workshop of Antonio Colonna, a space dedicated to the design and handmade creation of custom-made jewelry.

Bench goldsmithing course

In person at the atelier · Maximum 3 participants

For beginners and experienced students

In my studio, training stems from the daily work of a jewelry workshop. Here, I design and create jewelry on commission, tackling technical choices, processes, and practical issues.

Through demonstrations and guided bench exercises, I share with you the techniques for constructing, modifying, repairing, and finishing jewelry. The goal is not only to learn how to perform a particular process, but also to understand its reasons, recognize errors, and develop a personal working method.

The course is adapted to your experience: you can start from the basics or focus on the skills you want to perfect.

Course program

Before enrolling, we define the program based on your experience, the goals you wish to achieve, and the duration you choose.

The exercises are based on the techniques and situations I encounter in my daily work at the workshop, organized in a progressive path that allows you to develop dexterity, autonomy, and the ability to evaluate.

The work may include:

  • Organization of the station and use of tools in exercises.

  • Preparing components and shaping forms.

  • Assembly and soldering, including laser welding, with inspection of the joints.

  • Guided creation of jewelry with increasing difficulty.

  • Evaluation and execution of repairs and modifications appropriate to the level.

  • Finishing, polishing and checking the result.

In short courses, I focus my work on a limited objective. The longer courses allow for repetition of the operations and the tackling of a greater variety of constructions, repairs, and finishes.

How the lessons are conducted

The lessons alternate between observing the process, practical work at the bench, and reviewing the work. I help you recognize the errors, understand from which phase they originate, and correct them before proceeding.

For beginners, I introduce progressively more challenging exercises; with advanced students, I agree on more specific technical objectives, starting from the work they do and the difficulties they encounter. If you want to know My journey, Visit the About me.
